Sharepod also includes an option to copy files from your PC to your iPod, but this feature is no longer supported for newer iPods and should be used with caution or not at all.

Bossa

Bossa is an add-on for iTunes that enables you to schedule your music, create playlists, find artist information and more. The program uses a unique approach of tagging your music based on genre, artist and other ID3 information, as well as custom keywords. While this approach offers an innovative way of accessing your music, we found that it a little confusing and time consuming. The program allows you to create playlists based on your keyword combinations and schedule them to play automatically on certain days and times, you can even create playlists that run up to 24 hours. In addition, a feature called `the Lab` lets you retrieve additional information for the current artist via Wikipedia and view images from Flickr (which often returned rather odd results).

CopyPod

CopyPod allows you to download/backup MP3 files from your Apple iPod/iPod Shuffle to your PC. Just run the program, select your device and copy the files. You can specify the backup folder, and also select to backup all or just selected files. The program can also find duplicates.

Photopod

Photopod provides an easy way to upload photos to your iPod without having to synchronize entire folders, as it is done with iTunes. The program connects directly to your Video iPod or Nano and lets you browse the current albums, create new albums, and you can simply drag and drop new images (or entire folders) from your PC to be uploaded. In addition to images from your PC, you can also download photos directly from an online image gallery. Other features include options to backup and compact your photo library and to auto-rotate portrait pictures.

YouRipper

YouRipper is a small tool that enables you to download video clips from YouTube and Google Video. It automatically clings itself to the title bar of your browser and all you have to do is copy and paste (or drag and drop) the URL of the YouTube page that contains the video clip and YouRipper will automatically extract the correct file and save it as Flash video (.flv) file in a folder of your choice. You will need a FLV player (available from SnapFiles for free) to play the saved files. YouRipper also contains a handy RSS reader that shows the latest videos on YouTube.

beaTunes

beaTunes is an iTunes companion app capable of automatically analyzing your music collection to help you build better playlists. It analyzes BPM (beats per minute), silence at the beginning or end of a song, and the color (based on frequency spectrum) of a given song. Some of the data is stored through iTunes, and some is stored by beaTunes itself. Additionally, beaTunes can suggest albums that would complement your music collection, display music charts and help you correct typos, wrong genres etc. It also allows you to blog about selected songs or playlists.

PodQuiz Maker

PodLessons can be authored, packaged and sent to other iPods using PodQuiz Maker. The lessons begin with instructional content that can include links to video or audio files. The instructional material is followed by a multiple choice quiz that provides immediate feedback and a score.

iTube

iTube enables you to download videos from YouTube into iTunes. It automatically extracts the video from the YouTube URL, downloads it, converts the video to iPod compatible format (MPEG-4) and adds it to your iTunes library. iTube is not much to look at - just a standard input box to paste the URL, everything else is done automatically. Simple, but works well!

CopyPod Photo allows you to transfer, backup, copy or download your photos from your iPod to your PC. You can simply drag and drop your iPod photos to transfer them on your computer or play them in a SlideShow. CopyPod Photo can be used to backup your photos or to share them with friends - the program can be stored on your iPod, so that it can be used to transfer photos to any computer.

iDump is a standalone tool that enables you to copy all or selected files from your iPod to your PC. It automatically detects your iPod and generates a list of the content from which you can select the files to be copied. iDump supports output templates and can automatically create folders based on the artist and song information. You can also search your iPod by keyword, create a playlist from the selected songs and set rules for unattended transfers. Standalone, can run from your iPod.

iPod Folder

iPod Folder is a simple tool that enables you to copy the content of your iPod to a folder on your PC or another iPod. The program offers 3 buttons, one to select the iPod, one to select the destination folder, and another one to start the copy process. You can choose to overwrite existing files, and optionally limit the copy process to .mp3 files.

iPodWizard enables you to customize various icons, text strings and fonts on your iPod. It can either connect directly to your iPod and download the existing firmware for editing, or edit firmware from an Updater and then apply it to your device. You can scroll though the existing bitmap images (Apple logo, battery status, stars etc.) and replace them by using your own bitmaps, then write the changes to your iPod. The program also includes some additional tweaks as well as options to create and apply themes, downgrading firmware, extracting resources from Updaters and more, however these are mostly undocumented and should be used by experts only.

iPod 2 iPod

iPod 2 iPod enables you to connect multiple iPods to a computer and easily drag and drop songs and playlists to transfer them between iPods. You can view the iPods content by songs or playlist, and sort the display by artist, title, album and other aspects. iPod 2 iPod can also find duplicate or unlinked songs, and optionally remove them.

xPort

xPort enables you to directly transfer songs from your iPod to your PC. You can select to transfer all songs, or just selected items. In addition, the program can create playlists and provides a lyrics search, which however needs considerable improvements, as it could not find a single lyric for us.

iPod2Copy

Copy all your playlists from iPod with only one clic, drop your folders in the panel. If you drop an iPod in the first panel, iPod2Copy loads your playlists and show them in a combo. Then, if you choose a playlist, this software copies the list content to the specified location in the specific format. In addition, if you choose to backup your entire iPod, it will backup all the playlists, and importing them into iTunes is a child's play.
