WinMount enables you to mount ZIP, RAR, ISO, and BIN files to a new virtual drive, allowing you to access the files without the need to extract them first. The program can also mount folders as well as CD and DVD images in various formats. Smart Undelete

Smart Undelete is a file unerase and data recovery software that works with hard drives and removable disks, including USB sticks (but not with media cards). It is simple to operate, just select the drive and press the scan button, and view the list of files that can be recovered. The program can limit the search to specific file types or extensions, and also offers an option to save and restore to/from an image file. Smart Undelete only performs a quick surface scan, and does not have the recovery capabilities of more advanced tools.

DiskCheckup

DiskCheckup reads the S.M.A.R.T attributes of your hard drive and displays the current values in a report. It can also track changes over time and calculate a T.E.C (Threshold Exceeded Condition) date that may predict drive failure in the future. The program can optionally notify you by email when the threshold is exceeded. Unfortunately, DiskCheckup does not start automatically and cannot run in the system tray, which makes long-term monitoring very inconvenient (unless you want to keep it running in your taskbar at all times).

HDClone Free Edition

HDClone Free Edition enables you to move the content from an entire hard drive to another, larger one. The program installs itself on a bootable floppy or CD, and include it`s own operating system, so it runs completely independent from Windows. Auslogics Disk Defrag is a disk defragmentation tool that supports FAT 16, FAT 32, and NTFS volumes. Other than being a little faster and more user friendly, the program does not appear to have any significant advantages over the standard Windows defragmenter.

HDHacker

HDHacker is a standalone utility for advanced users, that saves, visualizes, restores the MBR (from a physical drive), the BootSector (from a logical drive) or any other sector from a disk. It can be used to save and restore a particular boot manager, or as MBR and BootSector backup. You should know what you are doing when using this utility.

Secure Disk

Secure Disk enables you to encrypt the content of local or removable USB/Flash disks. It uses 256-bit AES encryption at the physical sector level to protect your data from unauthorized access. The program works at the operating system level and constantly encrypts/decrypts your data as it is accessed, so even if the drive is removed, your data remains encrypted an inaccessible without the proper passwords. While working on the computer where Secure Disk is installed, you can access the encrypted drive(s) and files just as you would on any other drive, as long as you are logged in from the Secure Disk control panel.

The built in messaging features allow for system administrators to be notified of impending hard disk failure on any machine on the network while local alerting can be configured to notify the user. Disk Space Inspector allow you to determine which folders and files take up the most disk space and how your hard drive is being utilized. It offers interactive pie and bar chart displays, sortable columns and can create customizable file system reports. You can view disk space usage by NTFS owner, shares, folders and various other aspects. Reports can be exported to HTML and CSV format. Disk Space Inspector also supports network drives.

HDDlife Pro

HDDlife Professional is a handy tool, that runs in the system tray and monitors the health status of all your hard drive(s) that support S.M.A.R.T. technology (almost all modern drives do). If your hard drive supports temperature measurement, it will also display the current temperature. In case of problems, the program can send an email or network message, play an alert sound or automatically turn the computer off. The overall status is indicated by a dynamic tray icon. HDDlife Professional supports only IDE and Serial ATA disks, it does not support RAID disks.

EASEUS Partition Manager

EASEUS Partition Manager enables you to configure and manage partitions on your hard drive(s). You delete or format, and also resize and move your partitions. If you do not have any free disk space you can reduce the size of an existing partition, and use the unallocated disk space to create new or enlarged partitions to better manage your data. In addition, you can view disk and partition properties, set an active partition, change drive letters and more. EASEUS Partition Manager can be run from within Windows, but also includes an option to create a bootable CD, that allows you to manage your partitions before Windows loads (may be needed for certain changes). The demo version does not allow you to apply any partition changes.

Macrium Reflect

Reflect is an easy to use software package that enables you to create an accurate and reliable image of your hard disk or partitions on your disk. Using this image you can restore the entire disk, partition or individual files and folders in the event of a partial or complete system loss. You can create full, differential and incremental images to optimize backup speed and disk space requirements. Images can be stored on local or network drives, CD or DVD media, and removable drives connected using USB or Firewire (IEEE1394). In the event of a total loss of the Windows operating system your PC can be started using the Reflect recovery CD. This CD starts a compact version of the Linux operating system with a familiar mouse and graphical interface. You can then recover partitions and entire disk images with just a few clicks of your mouse.

This program helps you manage partitions on the hard drive, install and run multiple OSs, and back up your data. You can also securely wipe deleted files, partitions or entire drives; access data on Linux partitions; and mount Linux partitions under Windows.

JDiskReport

JDiskReport is a disk analysis utility, that allows you to view disk space usage with the help of graphical, interactive pie charts. It allows you to quickly find the largest, oldest or newest files and gather statistics about file sizes and types for each drive. You can choose between different graphical charts or text reports.

Floppy Image

Create image files of floppy disks and back (for backup, shipping or transfer). Save the image file compressed, uncompressed or as a self-extracting EXE. Add descriptions to or convert your old image files. Logically recreate bad sectors when writing floppy disks. The self-extracting EXE can be fully customized with a picture, license agreement dialog and a text with instructions.

DiskView

DiskView integrates into Windows Explorer and allows you to visualize your hard drive space usage by clicking the newly added toolbar button. It helps you find large files and folders, and allows you to view how disk space is organized. The program offers a new folder bar, that adds size indicators to folders, and a Visualizer which opens in the lower part of your Windows Explorer when the button is clicked. The Visualizer provides an interactive chart (pie or bar chart) that displays the disk space usage for the current folder or drive. Additional features include support for S.M.A.R.T statistics and disk health monitoring, network drives, printable reports and more.

View Folder Size Pro

View Folder Size Pro (formerly TotalSize) is a handy add-on for Windows Explorer, that enables you to add a new column to the detailed file view, that displays the total size for folders as well as files. While Windows shows you the size for all files, it does not show the size for folders - this little program can overcome the limitation. In addition, it includes and Internet FileSize tool that enables you to get the file size, redirection URL and estimated download time for most download links, without having to download the file first.

Partition Zapper

This program removes all partitions from a PC hard drive, regardless of the operating system, utility, or virus that created them. This program can be run from a command prompt after booting from a floppy or system startup diskette (see screenshot). Once partitions are deleted, new partitions can be created using Microsoft FDISK so that a new operating system can be installed on the hard drive.

Drive Manager

Drive Manager is a small and useful tool that makes it easy to retrieve drive information for all your drives at a glance. It runs as a standalone EXE file and displays Label, Type, Size, Used, Available, Format, Serial number and Percentage free for each local and removable drive. The information is refreshed every 20 seconds - double-clicking opens the drive in Windows Explorer. Drive Manager also allows you to create a substitute drive letter for a local folder, and to hide drives from Windows Explorer.

When different programs are running, temporary files necessary for the proper functioning those programs are created on hard disk. Quite often these temporary files are not deleted. The temporary files remain on hard disk, occupy the space and slowing the work of your computer. The tool "Power Disk Cleaner" is used for periodic cleaning of the computer from temporary and unused files to make your computer more stable, and fast.

WhatDisk

WhatDisk is an easy-to-use program that helps you categorize your disks (CD's, DVD's, ZIP disks, external hard drives, USB sticks etc.) into a single, searchable database. Now you can find that file (or that MP3 song) you were looking for without going through all your disks. WhatDisk also catalogs the contents of zip files on your disks. Now you really know what's on your disks.

Space

This program offers you several ways to find and display the most space-hungry of directories and files on your drives. It isn't limited to just hard drives, it can scan network shares and FTP accounts too. This is particularly useful for checking remote fileservers, or your Web space use.

It can create an emergency floppy disk or a bootable CD to recover partitions even if your operating system fails to boot. Backup, restore and rebuild partition tables. The program manages for MS-DOS; Freedos; Windows 95 ,98 and Me; Windows NT 4.0; Windows 2000;Windows XP and Windows 2003.

i.Disk

i.Disk counts the size of subdirectories including all their contents, and then lists their size in descending order. The program is simple, yet useful for tracking down where the space is being used on your hard drives. It offers the option to delete selected folders or file (with wildcard support). While there are better disk management tools, I found this one to be particular useful to track down empty folders, left behind from software installations.

Visual Subst

Visual Subst enables you to create virtual drives letters from any existing folder, allowing you to shorten the path to access the files by simply accessing the them via the newly created drive letter. For example, a long path like `C:Documents and SettingsUserMy Photosamily Album` could be easily accessed via the drive letter P:, acting as a shortcut to the actual folder. The virtual drive letters act just like any other drive letter and are accessible from all applications. Visual Subst is not only useful for convenient access, but can also become handy for developers who need to work with (script) files from another computer that use different drive letter paths in their configuration.

LookDisk

LookDisk is multi-functional disk tool, that you can use to search for files using various parameters. You can search for text in any files, find duplicate files (by name or content) and also get an overall view of your disks and space usage. Additional features include several advanced filtering options, use of external viewers, support for compressed archive files (ZIP, ARJ, CAB, RAR, LZH) and more. The list of found files can be saved or printed. LookDisk can handle large amount of files without using lots of system resources.

Dariks Boot and Nuke (DBAN) runs from a bootable CD or Floppy disk, and securely deletes (wipes) the entire content of the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect. The program is perfect for cleaning a computer before giving it away or selling it. You will download an ISO file, that needs to be burned to a CD.

Disktective

Disktective is a disk reporting tool that allows you to visualize your hard disk usage with pie charts, allowing you to quickly spot which directories use up the most space. You can navigate the directory tree and get a pie chart for each selected item, which can also be printed (in full color) or exported to HTML (text based) or proprietary tree format. The program is simple to use and does not require installation - just run the executable.

SysUtils Device Manager

SysUtils Device Manager %u2013 the removable device access control solution. Once SysUtils Device Manager is installed, administrators can control access to floppies, CDROMs, and other devices.
